An **expression language** is a [computer language](/source/Computer_language) for creating a [machine readable](/source/Machine_readable) representation of specific [domain knowledge](/source/Domain_knowledge). Examples include:

- [Advanced Boolean Expression Language](/source/Advanced_Boolean_Expression_Language), an obsolete hardware description language for hardware descriptions[1]

- [Data Analysis Expressions](/source/Data_Analysis_Expressions) (DAX), an expression language developed by Microsoft and used in Power Pivot, among other places[2]

- [Jakarta Expression Language](/source/Jakarta_Expression_Language), a domain-specific language used in Jakarta EE web applications. Formerly known as "Unified Expression Language", "Expression Language" or just "the Expression Language").

- [Rights Expression Languages](/source/Rights_Expression_Language), machine processable language used for representing immaterial rights such as copyright and license information
