The publication was similar in format to the popular children's comic ''[Eagle](/source/Eagle_(British_comics))'': tabloid with [photogravure](/source/photogravure) colour, with a mixture of comic strips and features.<ref name=BCR />

== Publication history ==
Published by [Beaverbrook Newspapers](/source/Beaverbrook_Newspapers), whose flagship title was the ''[Daily Express](/source/Daily_Express)'', the publication started out in 1954 as ''Junior Express''. It was renamed ''Junior Express Weekly'' in 1955 and then ''Express Weekly'' in 1956.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://britishcomics.wordpress.com/2015/03/30/express-weekly/|title=Express Weekly|date=30 March 2015|website=wordpress.com}}</ref> In 1960, the title was acquired by [City Magazines](/source/City_Magazines) and renamed ''TV Express Weekly''.<ref>{{cite web|title=W.
