==Production==
The design was built by [Alsberg Brothers Boatworks](/source/Alsberg_Brothers_Boatworks) in [Santa Cruz, California](/source/Santa_Cruz%2C_California) from 1986 to 1988, but is now out of production. It was the last of the production boats built before the company went out of business in 1988. ==Design==
The Express 34 is a recreational [keelboat](/source/keelboat), built predominantly of [fiberglass](/source/fiberglass), with wood trim. It has a masthead [sloop](/source/sloop) rig, a [raked stem](/source/raked_stem), a [reverse transom](/source/reverse_transom), an internally mounted elliptical spade-type [rudder](/source/rudder) controlled by a [tiller](/source/tiller) and an elliptical fixed fin [keel](/source/keel). It displaces {{convert|8500|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|3700|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of lead ballast.<ref name="Data"/>

The boat has a draft of {{convert|6.00|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the standard keel fitted. The boat is fitted with a Japanese [Yanmar](/source/Yanmar) 2GMF [diesel engine](/source/diesel_engine) of {{convert|18|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}}.
