**Exco International** was a leading [British](/source/United_Kingdom) money brokering company. It was listed on the [London Stock Exchange](/source/London_Stock_Exchange) and was once a constituent of the [FTSE 100 Index](/source/FTSE_100_Index) but was acquired by [British & Commonwealth Holdings](/source/British_%26_Commonwealth_Holdings) in 1986.

## History

The Company was established as a money brokering business in 1965 under the name of *Astley & Pearce*.[1] It subsequently merged with *Godsell & Co*, another money brokering business.[2]

In 1978 it was the subject of a [management buyout](/source/Management_buyout) from *Gerrard & National* who previously owned it.[3] It was first listed on the [London Stock Exchange](/source/London_Stock_Exchange) in 1981.[2]

The Company was acquired by [British & Commonwealth Holdings](/source/British_%26_Commonwealth_Holdings) in 1986.[3]

When British & Commonwealth Holdings collapsed the business was sold off as *Exco plc*. In 1998 it acquired [Intercapital plc](/source/ICAP_(company)) in a [reverse takeover](/source/Reverse_takeover).[4] It has now been integrated into the [ICAP Group](/source/ICAP_(company)).
