**Ewen Douglas MacIntosh** (25 December 1973 – 19 February 2024) was a Welsh actor known for his role as Keith Bishop in *[The Office](/source/The_Office_(British_TV_series))* (2001–2003).[1]

## Early life

MacIntosh was born in [Merionethshire](/source/Merionethshire), Wales, on 25 December 1973.[2] He was educated at [Repton School](/source/Repton_School) in [Derbyshire](/source/Derbyshire),[3] and studied linguistics at the [University of Edinburgh](/source/University_of_Edinburgh). While at university, he was involved in the [Edinburgh University Theatre Company](/source/Edinburgh_University_Theatre_Company) and [The Improverts](/source/The_Improverts).[4]

## Career

MacIntosh's big break in television came when he was cast as deadpan accountant Keith Bishop in *[The Office](/source/The_Office_(British_TV_series))*.[5] He also appeared on various shows such as a 2009 episode of *[Miranda](/source/Miranda_(TV_series))*[6] and *[Little Britain](/source/Little_Britain_(TV_series))*.[7] He formed a [double act](/source/Double_act) with [Tim FitzHigham](/source/Tim_FitzHigham) and they performed at the [Edinburgh Festival Fringe](/source/Edinburgh_Festival_Fringe) in 2007.[5] In 2009, he appeared alongside several other celebrities in a charity music video for the [Chris Rea](/source/Chris_Rea) song "[Driving Home for Christmas](/source/Driving_Home_for_Christmas)".[5]

In April 2013, he performed in the [West End](/source/West_End_theatre) show *Geek! A New Musical* at the Tristan Bates Theatre.[8] He was a regular on the radio sitcom *[Cabin Pressure](/source/Cabin_Pressure_(radio_series))* as Carl, a bored [air traffic controller](/source/Air_traffic_control).[9] In 2013, he appeared in a national TV advert for [AO World](/source/AO_World).[10]

He appeared as Barry the window-cleaner in the 2014 film *[The Confusion of Tongues](/source/The_Confusion_of_Tongues)*,[9] and in 2015, had a role in *[The Lobster](/source/The_Lobster)*, directed by [Yorgos Lanthimos](/source/Yorgos_Lanthimos). Again in 2015, he made a [cameo appearance](/source/Cameo_appearance) in the [music video](/source/Music_video) for [Wolf Alice](/source/Wolf_Alice)'s "[Giant Peach](/source/Giant_Peach)".[11][12] In 2017, he appeared as Lionel in British romantic comedy film *[Finding Fatimah](/source/Finding_Fatimah)*.[13] In 2019 he appeared in the *[Shaun of The Dead](/source/Shaun_of_The_Dead)*-echoing zombie film *[Shed of The Dead](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Shed_of_The_Dead&action=edit&redlink=1)* alongside [Emily Booth](/source/Emily_Booth).

He appeared on week two (Cheshire) of *[Celebrity Come Dine with Me](/source/Celebrity_Come_Dine_with_Me)* in 2020, alongside [Charlotte Crosby](/source/Charlotte_Crosby), [Dawn Ward](/source/The_Real_Housewives_of_Cheshire), [Steven Arnold](/source/Steven_Arnold) and Jay Hutton.[14]

MacIntosh also presented various music programmes on [Now 80s](/source/Now_80s) and [Now 90s](/source/Now_90s).[7]

In 2021, he appeared as a doctor in the feature film South Of The River (aka Live Fast, Live Free). In 2022 he made a cameo appearance in the third and final series of *[After Life](/source/After_Life_(TV_series))*.[15] The same year, he made an appearance in an episode of *Unfinished London* by [Jay Foreman](/source/Jay_Foreman) on [YouTube](/source/YouTube) as "[Robert P McCulloch](/source/Robert_P._McCulloch)".[16]

## Death

MacIntosh died at a care home in [Darlington](/source/Darlington) on 19 February 2024, at the age of 50; he had experienced two years of ill health prior to his death.[5][17]
