**Evin Incir** (born 15 June 1984) is a Swedish politician of Kurdish descent for the [Swedish Social Democratic Party](/source/Swedish_Social_Democratic_Party) who has been serving as a [Member of the European Parliament](/source/Member_of_the_European_Parliament) since the [2019 European elections](/source/2019_European_Parliament_election).[1]

## Political career

Incir was born on 15 June 1984 in [Diyarbakır](/source/Diyarbak%C4%B1r), Turkey.[2] She has been serving on the [Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs](/source/Committee_on_Civil_Liberties%2C_Justice_and_Home_Affairs) since 2019.

In addition to her committee assignments, Incir has been part of the Parliament's delegations to the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee since 2019 and to the [Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly](/source/Euro-Mediterranean_Parliamentary_Assembly) since 2021.[3] She is also a member of the European Parliament Anti-Racism and Diversity Intergroup,[4] the [European Parliament Intergroup on LGBT Rights](/source/European_Parliament_Intergroup_on_LGBT_Rights),[5] the European Parliament Intergroup on Trade Unions[6] and the European Parliament Intergroup on [Western Sahara](/source/Western_Sahara).[7]

In 2023, Incir – together with [Malin Björk](/source/Malin_Bj%C3%B6rk) and [Samira Rafaela](/source/Samira_Rafaela) – alleged in a letter to the [President of the European Parliament](/source/President_of_the_European_Parliament) [Roberta Metsola](/source/Roberta_Metsola) their fellow MEPs [Anders Vistisen](/source/Anders_Vistisen), [Isabella Adinolfi](/source/Isabella_Adinolfi) and [Cristian Terheș](/source/Cristian_Terhe%C8%99) breached Parliament’s rules on offensive language during a debate on the ratification of the [2011 Istanbul convention against gender-based violence](/source/Istanbul_Convention) and urged Metsola to investigate.[8]

## Recognition

In December 2020, Incir received the Best Newcomer award at *[The Parliament Magazine](/source/The_Parliament_Magazine)'*s annual [MEP Awards](/source/The_Parliament_Magazine#The_MEP_Awards).[9]

In June 2022, Incir won the award for diversity, inclusion and social impact at *[The Parliament Magazine](/source/The_Parliament_Magazine)'*s annual [MEP Awards](/source/The_Parliament_Magazine#The_MEP_Awards).[10][11]

In June 2023, Incir was the joint recipient of the Promoting European Value Award, alongside fellow MEP [Vlad Gheorghe](/source/Vlad_Gheorghe) at *[The Parliament Magazine](/source/The_Parliament_Magazine)'*s annual [MEP Awards](/source/The_Parliament_Magazine#The_MEP_Awards)[12]

In March 2024 Incir was the joint winner, alongside Irish MEP [Frances Fitzgerald](/source/Frances_Fitzgerald_(politician)), of the "European Values Champion of the Mandate" award at *[The Parliament Magazine](/source/The_Parliament_Magazine)'*s annual [MEP Awards](/source/The_Parliament_Magazine#The_MEP_Awards).[13]
