'''John Evans Knowles''' (30 November 1914 – 18 December 2011) was a [Progressive Conservative party](/source/Progressive_Conservative_Party_of_Canada) member of the [House of Commons of Canada](/source/House_of_Commons_of_Canada). Born in [North Walsingham Township, Ontario](/source/North_Walsingham_Township%2C_Ontario), he was a farmer by career.
He was first elected at the [Norfolk](/source/Norfolk_(electoral_district)) riding in the [1957 general election](/source/1957_Canadian_federal_election) and re-elected for second term in the [1958 election](/source/1958_Canadian_federal_election). In the [1962 election](/source/1962_Canadian_federal_election), Knowles was defeated by [Jack Roxburgh](/source/Jack_Roxburgh) of the [Liberal party](/source/Liberal_Party_of_Canada). Knowles was also unsuccessful in unseating Roxburgh in the [1963](/source/1963_Canadian_federal_election) and [1965 elections](/source/1965_Canadian_federal_election).
