He was a member of the [National (Country) Party](/source/National_Party_of_Australia) and succeeded his father [Sir Charles Adermann](/source/Charles_Adermann) in federal parliament. He held ministerial office in the [Fraser government](/source/Fraser_government) as [Minister for the Northern Territory](/source/Department_of_the_Northern_Territory_(1975%E2%80%9378)) (1975–1978) and [Minister for Veterans' Affairs](/source/Minister_for_Veterans'_Affairs) (1978–1980).
==Early life==
Adermann was born in [Kingaroy, Queensland](/source/Kingaroy%2C_Queensland), son of [Charles Adermann](/source/Charles_Adermann), and was educated at [Brisbane Boys' College](/source/Brisbane_Boys'_College). He did not complete a medical degree at the [University of Queensland](/source/University_of_Queensland) and instead became a dairy farmer in [Kingaroy](/source/Kingaroy). He then completed a [Bachelor of Commerce](/source/Bachelor_of_Commerce) by external study at University of Queensland and worked as a public accountant. He married Joan Hovard in 1951 and they had three sons and two daughters. He was a councillor of [Kingaroy Shire](/source/Shire_of_Kingaroy) from 1958 to 1967.[{{cite web

Adermann was elected as the member for [Fisher](/source/Division_of_Fisher) following the retirement of his father at the [1972 election](/source/1972_Australian_federal_election) and represented the [Country Party](/source/National_Party_of_Australia) (National Country Party from 1975).[{{cite web

He put in place the arrangements for [Northern Territory](/source/Northern_Territory) self-government and was responsible for the establishment of [Uluru National Park](/source/Uluru_National_Park) and continuing the reconstruction of [Darwin](/source/Darwin%2C_Northern_Territory) after [Cyclone Tracy](/source/Cyclone_Tracy). In July 1978, he was appointed [Minister for Veterans' Affairs](/source/Minister_for_Veterans'_Affairs_(Australia)) and held it until November 1980. He was responsible for establishing an inquiry into the effects of [Agent Orange](/source/Agent_Orange) on Australian servicemen who had fought in the [Malayan Emergency](/source/Malayan_Emergency) and the [Vietnam War](/source/Vietnam_War). Ahead of the [1984 election](/source/1984_Australian_federal_election), a redistribution transferred the most conservative portions of Fisher, including his home to the new [Division of Fairfax](/source/Division_of_Fairfax).
