**Eugene Sweeney** (1592–1669) was an [Irish](/source/Irish_people) [prelate](/source/Prelate) of the [Roman Catholic Church](/source/Roman_Catholic_Church) who served as the [Bishop of Kilmore](/source/Bishop_of_Kilmore) from 1629 to 1669.

A native of [County Donegal](/source/County_Donegal), he was appointed the [Bishop](/source/Bishop_(Catholicism)) of the [Diocese of Kilmore](/source/Roman_Catholic_Diocese_of_Kilmore) by [Pope Urban VIII](/source/Pope_Urban_VIII) on 18 September 1629.[1][2][3]

He died in office on 18 October 1669, aged 77.[1][2][3] After his death, the [see](/source/Episcopal_see) remained vacant for nearly sixty years, during which time it was administered by [vicars general](/source/Vicar_general) or [bishops of Clogher](/source/Bishop_of_Clogher).
