**Eugene A. Rodriguez** (November 14, 1916 – October 23, 1996) was a [Cuban](/source/Cuba)-born [jockey](/source/Jockey) in [American](/source/United_States) [Thoroughbred](/source/Thoroughbred) [horse racing](/source/Horse_racing).

Born in [Matanzas](/source/Matanzas), [Cuba](/source/Cuba), Rodriguez began his career in racing at [Oriental Park](/source/Oriental_Park_Racetrack) in [Havana](/source/Havana), a racetrack which in 1980 would induct him in their Hall of Fame. After emigrating to the United States, he competed at racetracks in [California](/source/California) where he won a riding title at [Del Mar Racetrack](/source/Del_Mar_Racetrack) in 1940. He went on to race in [New York State](/source/New_York_(state)), [New Jersey](/source/New_Jersey), [Florida](/source/Florida)[1] as well as in [Toronto, Ontario](/source/Toronto), [Canada](/source/Canada) during the latter part of the 1950s. In Toronto he won a number of stakes races at [Woodbine Racetrack](/source/Woodbine_Racetrack) and the autumn 1956 riding title at [Greenwood Raceway](/source/Greenwood_Raceway).[2]

Rodriguez notably was aboard the future [Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame](/source/Canadian_Horse_Racing_Hall_of_Fame) colt [Canadian Champ](/source/Canadian_Champ) for his wins in the 1956 [Seagram Cup](/source/Seagram_Cup_Stakes) and the [Breeders' Stakes](/source/Breeders'_Stakes).
