**Esmail Halali** ([Persian](/source/Persian_language): اسماعيل حلالى, born on August 13, 1973, in [Tabriz](/source/Tabriz))[3] is an Iranian [football](/source/Association_football) manager and former [footballer](/source/Football_player) who played as a [midfielder](/source/Midfielder). He most recently played for [Shahin Bushehr](/source/Shahin_Bushehr_F.C.) in the Iran [Azadegan League](/source/Azadegan_League) before retiring from professional football.

## Playing career

### Club career

He began his professional career with [Tractor](/source/Tractor_S.C.) in 1989 and was promoted to the first-team squad in 1992. After the relegation of Tractor in 1995, he left the team and joins to [Persepolis](/source/Persepolis_F.C.). He played for Perseopolis seven season but was sell to [Sanat Naft](/source/Sanat_Naft_F.C.) at the end of the [2001–02 season](/source/2001%E2%80%9302_Iran_Pro_League). He also played at the [Paykan](/source/Paykan_F.C.), [Esteghlal Ahvaz](/source/Esteghlal_Ahvaz_F.C.), [Shahrdari Bandar Abbas](/source/Shahrdari_Bandar_Abbas_F.C.) (in [Azadegan League](/source/Azadegan_League)) and [Shahin Bushehr](/source/Shahin_Bushehr_F.C.) in the next years. He announced his retirement in July 2008 to starting his coaching period.

### International career

He was invited to the national team by [Tomislav Ivić](/source/Tomislav_Ivi%C4%87) when he was played for [Persepolis](/source/Persepolis_F.C.). He has 15 caps at the [Iran national football team](/source/Iran_national_football_team) and also was part of the team in [2000 AFC Asian Cup](/source/2000_AFC_Asian_Cup).

## Coaching career

He was started his coaching career just months after his retirement at his beloved club, [Persepolis](/source/Persepolis_F.C.) as [Hossein Abdi](/source/Hossein_Abdi)'s assistant in B team. After Abdi resigned, he was named as the B team's head coach by chairman [Habib Kashani](/source/Habib_Kashani) on 1 July 2010. Under his management, Persepolis won the [Tehran Provincial League](/source/Tehran_Provincial_League) and was promoted to the [3rd Division](/source/Iran_Football's_3rd_Division). They also won the [Tehran Hazfi Cup](/source/Tehran_Hazfi_Cup) at the same season and made a [Double](/source/Double_(association_football)), the first B team to doing so.
