**Esfarvarin** ([Persian](/source/Persian_language): اسفرورين)[a] is a city in, and the capital of, [Esfarvarin District](/source/Esfarvarin_District) in [Takestan County](/source/Takestan_County), [Qazvin](/source/Qazvin_province) province, [Iran](/source/Iran).[6] The village of Esfarvarin was converted to a city in 1989[3] and is famous for its vineyards.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]

The people of Esfarvarin are [Tat](/source/Tati_language_(Iran)), [Persian](/source/Persian_language) and [Turkic](/source/Turkic_people) and speak [Tati language](/source/Tati_language_(Iran)), [Persian](/source/Persian_language) and [Turkic](/source/Turkic_language).[7] [8][9][10][11]

### Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 12,104 in 2,670 households.[12] The following census in 2011 counted 12,615 people in 3,225 households.[13] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 12,371 people in 3,394 households.[4]
