At the [1968 Winter Olympics](/source/1968_Winter_Olympics) in [Grenoble](/source/Grenoble), she originally finished third in the women's singles event behind [Ortrun Enderlein](/source/Ortrun_Enderlein) and [Anna-Maria Müller](/source/Anna-Maria_M%C3%BCller) (both from [East Germany](/source/East_Germany)), but was awarded the gold medal upon the disqualifications of Enderlein, Müller, and [Angela Knösel](/source/Angela_Kn%C3%B6sel) (who finished fourth) when the [East Germans](/source/East_Germany) were discovered to have their runners being illegally heated.

Lechner also won the silver medal in the women's singles event at the [1971 FIL World Luge Championships](/source/FIL_World_Luge_Championships_1971) in [Olang](/source/Olang), [Italy](/source/Italy). She also won the gold medal in the women's singles event at the [1971 FIL European Luge Championships](/source/FIL_European_Luge_Championships_1971) in [Imst](/source/Imst), [Austria](/source/Austria).
