Menees was born and grew up in Southern [California](/source/California). After graduating from [General Theological Seminary](/source/General_Theological_Seminary) he was ordained in the [Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles](/source/Episcopal_Diocese_of_Los_Angeles).<ref>{{cite web |last1=Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin |title=Bishop Ordinary Profile |url=https://www.dioceseofsanjoaquin.net/bishop--staff.html |website=Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin |access-date=15 March 2022}}</ref> In addition to spending several months as a missionary in [El Salvador](/source/El_Salvador) and [Mexico](/source/Mexico), he has also served at parishes in east [Los Angeles](/source/Los_Angeles), [Orange County](/source/Orange_County%2C_California), [San Diego](/source/San_Diego) and [La Jolla](/source/La_Jolla).<ref name="ModBee"/>

Menees served for the first period of his ministry priest in the [Episcopal Church](/source/Episcopal_Church_(United_States)).
