**Eric John Michael Hester** (born January 9, 1974) is an American [composer](/source/Composer).

## Early life and family

Eric Hester was born on January 9, 1974, in [Las Vegas, Nevada](/source/Las_Vegas,_Nevada). In 1979, he moved with his family to [Newport Beach](/source/Newport_Beach), California. In 1988, he moved to [San Clemente](/source/San_Clemente) where he attended [San Clemente High School](/source/San_Clemente_High_School_(San_Clemente,_California)) and studied with composer and songwriter, [Mike Bacich](/source/Mike_Bacich), of [Oingo Boingo](/source/Oingo_Boingo). In 1992, Hester moved to [Los Angeles](/source/Los_Angeles), where he attended the [University of California, Los Angeles](/source/University_of_California,_Los_Angeles) extension program.

Hester's first composing work came on *[Roundhouse](/source/Roundhouse_(TV_series))*, on [Nickelodeon](/source/Nickelodeon), which he was nominated for the [CableACE Award](/source/CableACE_Award) in 1995 for the song, "Second Chance".[1]

### Album Producer

Hester was a contributing producer on the [Britney Spears](/source/Britney_Spears) song "Follow Me" (also the theme to Nickelodeon's *[Zoey 101](/source/Zoey_101)*). He also was the string arranger on the track. [citation needed]
