**Enterprise Champion** or **Enterprise Tsar**[1] is a position within the [UK Government](/source/UK_Government) responsible for promoting [entrepreneurship](/source/Entrepreneurship) and advising the [Department for Business and Trade](/source/Department_for_Business_and_Trade). The role is currently held by [Alan Sugar](/source/Alan_Sugar), the businessman and star of [BBC One](/source/BBC_One)'s *[The Apprentice](/source/The_Apprentice_(UK_TV_series))*, who also held the position for one year during the [Brown ministry](/source/Brown_ministry) (2007–10).[2] During this time, he was ennobled as Lord Sugar.[3]

Sugar was also kept on by [Conservative Party](/source/Conservative_Party_(UK)) prime ministers [David Cameron](/source/David_Cameron) in the [2015 United Kingdom general election](/source/2015_United_Kingdom_general_election) and by [Theresa May](/source/Theresa_May) after the [Brexit referendum](/source/Brexit_referendum).[4][5][6][7]
