**Ensemble neoN** is a [contemporary classical music](/source/Contemporary_classical_music) ensemble.

## History

The ensemble was founded by [Julian Skar](/source/Julian_Skar) and [Jan Martin Smørdal](/source/Jan_Martin_Sm%C3%B8rdal) in 2008.

## Members

Members include conductor [Magnus Loddgard](/source/Magnus_Loddgard), dancer-soprano [Silje Aker Johnsen](/source/Silje_Aker_Johnsen) who was awarded the 2013 Performer of the Year award by the [Norwegian Society of Composers](/source/Norwegian_Society_of_Composers), and violinist Karin Hellqvist who was awarded the Interpreter's prize from the [Swedish Society of Composers](/source/Swedish_Society_of_Composers) in January 2016.[1][2]

## Awards

Ensemble neoN was awarded the *[Spellemannprisen](/source/Spellemannprisen)* for their albums *[The Forester](/source/The_Forester_(album))* (2013, with [Susanna Wallumrød](/source/Susanna_Wallumr%C3%B8d)) and *Neon* (2016).[3][4] The ensemble was further awarded the 2017 "Performer of the year" award by the [Norwegian Society of Composers](/source/Norwegian_Society_of_Composers).[5] They were also awarded the [Pauline Hall](/source/Pauline_Hall_(composer)) prize in 2011.[6]
