# Engesland

**Engesland** is a village in [Birkenes](/source/Birkenes) municipality in [Agder](/source/Agder) county, [Norway](/source/Norway). The village is located along the [Norwegian County Road 405](/source/Norwegian_County_Road_405), just west of the lake Ljosevatnet and just a short distance north of the village of [Ås](/source/%C3%85s,_Agder). The [Vegusdal Church](/source/Vegusdal_Church) has been located in Engesland since 1867. The village was the [administrative centre](/source/Administrative_centre) of the old municipality of [Vegusdal](/source/Vegusdal) from 1877 until the dissolution of the municipality in 1967.
