# Ems Rock

**Ems Rock** ([54°10′S 36°35′W](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=54_10_S_36_35_W)) is a rock midway between [Harrison Point](/source/Harrison_Point) and [Busen Point](/source/Busen_Point) in the south part of [Stromness Bay](/source/Stromness_Bay), [South Georgia](/source/South_Georgia_Island). It was charted by [Discovery Investigations](/source/Discovery_Investigations) personnel under Lieutenant Commander [J.M. Chaplin](/source/J.M._Chaplin) in 1927 and 1929, and was named in 1957 by the [UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee](/source/UK_Antarctic_Place-Names_Committee) for the sailing vessel *Ems*, owned by the [Tonsberg Hvalfangeri](/source/Tonsberg_Hvalfangeri), [Husvik](/source/Husvik), located at the head of [Husvik Harbour](/source/Husvik_Harbour) in Stromness Bay.[1]
