==Professional wrestling career==
Weighing in at 350 pounds and standing in at 6' 9", Hale made his professional wrestling debut in 1998 for the World Wrestling Alliance, occasionally teaming up with [Test](/source/Test_(wrestler)) in a couple of matches.<ref name=":0"/> He also wrestled for Music City Wrestling as [Lord Humongous](/source/Lord_Humongous), and used a [leaping piledriver](/source/Piledriver_(professional_wrestling)) as a finisher.<ref name=":2">{{Cite web|last=Makropoulos|first=Georgiann|date=January 30, 2006|title=Emory Hale passes away|url=https://wrestlingfigs.com/wrestlingnews/emory-hale-passes-away/|access-date=December 14, 2021|website=WrestlingFigs}}</ref>

In late 1998, [Jimmy Hart](/source/Jimmy_Hart) brought Hale to [World Championship Wrestling](/source/World_Championship_Wrestling) (WCW), grooming him as the next big opponent for [Hulk Hogan](/source/Hulk_Hogan).<ref name=":1"/> He mainly wrestled on ''[WCW Monday Nitro](/source/WCW_Monday_Nitro)'' and ''[WCW Saturday Night](/source/WCW_Saturday_Night)'', losing to bigger stars like [Lex Luger](/source/Lex_Luger), [Barry Windham](/source/Barry_Windham) and [Booker T](/source/Booker_T_(wrestler)).<ref name=":0"/> On February 2, 2000, he appeared on ''[WCW Thunder](/source/WCW_Thunder)'' as the Machine, losing to [Diamond Dallas Page](/source/Diamond_Dallas_Page).<ref name=":0"/>

==Illness and death==
In 2003, Hale received a kidney transplant, but eventually developed [pneumonia](/source/pneumonia) and was hospitalized in the ICU of Tampa General Hospital.<ref name=":1"/> On January 28, 2006, Hale died of kidney failure at the age of 36.<ref name=":1"/>
