**Emily Shaffer** is an American film actress, dancer and [audiobook](/source/Audiobook) narrator.[1][2]

## Early life and education

Shaffer was born in [Clarksburg, West Virginia](/source/Clarksburg,_West_Virginia). She attended [Robert C. Byrd High School](/source/Robert_C._Byrd_High_School), and graduated from [West Virginia University](/source/West_Virginia_University) with a degree in [Bachelor of Fine Arts](/source/Bachelor_of_Fine_Arts), Acting / Minor in Dance.[3] Her mother is a Catholic school teacher and her father is a lawyer with his own private practice. She has one sister named Hannah.[citation needed]

## Career

Shaffer appeared in productions sponsored by Jigsaw Theatre and West Virginia Public Theatre. In 2010 she performed in *He’s Coming Up the Stairs* at Empire Stage in Fort Lauderdale.[4]

Shaffer got her start acting on television on [HBO](/source/HBO)'s *[How to Make It in America](/source/How_to_Make_It_in_America)* (2011). She was a guest star in the pilot for the NBC series *[Chicago Med](/source/Chicago_Med)*, a spin off of *[Chicago Fire](/source/Chicago_Fire_(TV_series))* and [*Chicago P.D*.](/source/Chicago_P.D._(TV_series))[3]

She later had theatrical roles at the Gladys G. Davis Theatre and the New York Theatre Workshop.[5] In 2018 she performed in *It's a Wonderful Life*, staged by Virginia Public Theatre.[6]
