**Emily Rose Compagno** (born November 9, 1979) is a [legal](/source/Law) [analyst](/source/News_analyst) and American [television host](/source/Television_presenter) who co-hosts the daytime news and talk show *[Outnumbered](/source/Outnumbered_(American_TV_program))* on [Fox News](/source/Fox_News).[2] She frequently appears on *[The Five](/source/The_Five_(talk_show))* and late-night show *[Gutfeld!](/source/Gutfeld!)* and hosts *The FOX True Crime Podcast w/ Emily Compagno* on [Fox News Radio](/source/Fox_News_Radio).[3]

## Early life and education

Compagno was born in [Naval Hospital Oakland](/source/Naval_Hospital_Oakland), [California](/source/California), where her father was a Commander in the [U.S. Navy](/source/United_States_Navy) and a physician.[4] She was raised in [El Cerrito, California](/source/El_Cerrito%2C_California) with her two sisters, Natalie and Julietta,[5][6] by her parents Katherine (née Bertsch, of English, Bohemian, and German descent)[7] and John Compagno, of Italian descent from Sicily.[8][9]

She graduated with a [B.A.](/source/Bachelor_of_Arts) in [political science](/source/Political_science) from the [University of Washington](/source/University_of_Washington), where she was a [U.S. Air Force ROTC](/source/Air_Force_Reserve_Officer_Training_Corps) cadet for two years.[6][10][11] She graduated with a [J.D.](/source/Juris_Doctor) from the [University of San Francisco School of Law](/source/University_of_San_Francisco_School_of_Law) in 2006,[6] where she was president of the [Federalist Society](/source/Federalist_Society) and articles editor of the Intellectual Property Bulletin.[12]

### Family

Compagno's father served as a Commander in the [U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps](/source/Navy_Medical_Service_Corps), and two uncles served in the [U.S. Army](/source/United_States_Army).[4] Her grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-aunt, and many other relatives served in various branches of the military during [World War I](/source/World_War_I), [World War II](/source/World_War_II), and other conflicts, with deployments around the world.[13][14][4][15] Her great-great-uncle, PFC Joseph Lorenz, made the Ultimate Sacrifice in World War I and lies buried in [Suresnes](/source/Suresnes), [France](/source/France), where his sister, Lt. Luella Lorenz, visited during her deployment in World War II with the U.S. Army Nursing Corps.[4] Compagno's great-great-grandmother Rosa also visited the grave of PFC Lorenz as part of the [Gold Star Mothers Pilgrimage](/source/American_Gold_Star_Mothers).[4][16]

## Career

After passing the California bar,[17] she worked as a criminal defense attorney in [San Francisco](/source/San_Francisco) while also serving as captain of the [Oakland Raiders](/source/Oakland_Raiders) cheerleading squad, the [Raiderettes](/source/Raiderettes).[6][10] The [NFL](/source/National_Football_League) selected her as an ambassador and she promoted the NFL brand in [Beijing](/source/Beijing) and [Shanghai](/source/Shanghai), and was one of five NFL cheerleaders selected by the [United Service Organizations](/source/United_Service_Organizations) to visit U.S. troops stationed in [Iraq](/source/Iraq) and [Kuwait](/source/Kuwait).[6]

She then passed the Washington bar.[18]

In 2018, Compagno accepted a position at [Fox News](/source/Fox_News) as a contributor and legal analyst.[2] She served as a semi-regular co-host of the weekday talk show *[The Five](/source/The_Five_(talk_show))* and appears on other FNC programs, such as *[Gutfeld!](/source/Gutfeld!)*, offering opinions or legal analysis on the news of the day.[10] On March 9, 2020, *Crimes That Changed America,* a show on [Fox Nation](/source/Fox_Nation) hosted by Compagno, debuted its first season.[19]

Compagno was named a co-host of *Outnumbered* in January 2021, where she joined [Harris Faulkner](/source/Harris_Faulkner) and [Kayleigh McEnany](/source/Kayleigh_McEnany).[20][21][22] In February 2023, Fox News announced that Compagno would host *The FOX True Crime Podcast* on [Fox News Radio](/source/Fox_News_Radio).[23]

Compagno is the host of the *Under His Wings* special,[24] *Hero Dogs,[25]* *Crimes That Changed America*,[26] *Weapons of War*,[27] and *American Vampires*[28] on Fox Nation. She also hosted the *Fox All-American New Year from Times Square* in 2021 and 2022[29][30] and co-hosted the *Army 250 Parade* in 2025 with [Lawrence B. Jones](/source/Lawrence_B._Jones).[31]

## Personal life

Compagno lives in New York City. She is active with nonprofits dedicated to U.S. veterans, law enforcement, and K9 causes.[4][32]
