**Elwick Road** is a major arterial road that runs through the northern suburbs of [Hobart](/source/Hobart), [Tasmania](/source/Tasmania). The road is the major link road between the [Main Road](/source/Main_Road%2C_Hobart) and the [Brooker Highway](/source/Brooker_Highway) that connects to [Glenorchy](/source/Glenorchy%2C_Tasmania).[2][3] Elwick passes through residential areas.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]

In 2008, the Tasmanian [Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources](/source/Department_of_Infrastructure%2C_Energy_and_Resources) proposed the realignment of Elwick Road with [Goodwood Road](/source/Goodwood_Road%2C_Tasmania) were realigned to form one intersection, reducing confusion and the number of traffic lights on the [Brooker Highway](/source/Brooker_Highway) and to improve [rush hour](/source/Rush_hour) efficiency.[4][5] A $32 million [AUD](/source/AUD) plan was released in 2015 and construction was completed in 2016.[6][3][7][8]
