# Elviin

British songwriter and artist manager

**Elvin Smith** also known as **Elviin**, is a [British](/source/British_people) [songwriter](/source/Songwriter) and [artist manager](/source/Artist_manager) from [South London](/source/South_London).[1]

He signed to [Virgin Records](/source/Virgin_Records) in 2007, ten months after learning to play the piano, and toured with [Jack Peñate](/source/Jack_Pe%C3%B1ate) shortly after. In 2008, he recorded his debut [album](/source/Album), *Made Of*, with [record producer](/source/Record_producer) [Tony Hoffer](/source/Tony_Hoffer) at [The Sound Factory](/source/The_Sound_Factory), [Los Angeles](/source/Los_Angeles). He was the main support act for [Adele](/source/Adele) on her first major UK tour.[2][3][4][5]

In 2012, he went into music management shortly after discovering [Sam Smith](/source/Sam_Smith_(singer)) at a show in London. Elvin also co-wrote one of Smith's UK number 1 singles, "[Lay Me Down](/source/Lay_Me_Down_(Sam_Smith_song))", with [Jimmy Napes](/source/Jimmy_Napes), from Smith's debut album, *[In The Lonely Hour](/source/In_The_Lonely_Hour)*.[6][7][8][9]
