**Elubo** is a town in the [Jomoro district](/source/Jomoro_District), a district in the [Western Region](/source/Western_Region_(Ghana)) of Ghana, and is located near the border with the [Ivory Coast](/source/Ivory_Coast).[2]: 10 2021 census indicate that, Elubo have a [settlement](/source/Human_settlement) population of 23,952 people.[3] The current *[Omanhene](/source/Omanhene)* of Elubo is Nana Kesse Panyin III.[4][1]

The town has a [mayor–council form of government](/source/Mayor%E2%80%93council_government). The mayor (executive chief) is appointed by the [president of Ghana](/source/President_of_Ghana) and approved by the town council, the [Jomoro Municipal Assembly](/source/Jomoro_Municipal_District).[5] The current mayor of Elubo and the district as a whole is Hon. Louisa Iris Arde.[6]

## Demographics

The town, along with the district as a whole, are predominantly religious making up 92% of the population with the largest religions being Christianity (84.1), Islam (7.3%), and traditional religions (1.2%).[1]: 31 The largest ethnic groups who resided in the town are the [Akan](/source/Akan_people), [Nzema](/source/Nzema_people),and [Ewe](/source/Ewe_people).[1]: 4

## Economy

The biggest economic sector of the town is [agriculture](/source/Agriculture), employing most of the labour force. Other major economic sectors include [trade](/source/Trade) and [commerce](/source/Commerce).[1]: 4, 5 Some of the residents depends on the traffic between the border crossing to make a living.[7]

The *Omanhene*, or [paramount chief](/source/Paramount_chief), of Elubo is Nana Kesse Panyin III.[4]

### Location

Elubo is a town located in the [Jomoro Municipal District](/source/Jomoro_Municipal_District), which has a total land area of 1,495 km2 (577 sq mi). The district bordered the [Aowin municipal district](/source/Aowin_(municipal_district)) to the north, the [Wassa Amenfi West Municipal District](/source/Wassa_Amenfi_West_Municipal_District) towards the northeast, [Ivory Coast](/source/Ivory_Coast) to the west, the [Gulf of Guinea](/source/Gulf_of_Guinea) to the south and the [Ellembelle District](/source/Ellembelle_District) towards the east.[1]: 1 The town is located near the [border](/source/Ghana%E2%80%93Ivory_Coast_border) and is home to a border crossing.[2]: 10

At the crossing of the [border](/source/Ghana%E2%80%93Ivory_Coast_border) with Ivory Coast, the prominent types of transportation include: [trucks](/source/Truck), [canoes](/source/Canoe) (through the [Tano River](/source/Tano_River)), state-owned buses, and privatively-owned trucks.[2]: 11

### Climate

The town has a [Tropical monsoon climate](/source/Tropical_monsoon_climate) ([Köppen climate classification](/source/K%C3%B6ppen_climate_classification): *Am*), experiencing two rainy seasons with a high amount of annual rainfall. The monthly mean maximum temperature ranges around 26 °C (79 °F) while the [relative humidity](/source/Relative_humidity) peaks at 90% in the night and drops to around 75% during the afternoon.[1]: 3

## Healthcare

The town is home to a port health unit, a facility under the Port Health Directorate (division of the [Ghana Health Service](/source/Ghana_Health_Service)) which helps to handle public health emergencies at Ghana's land border crossings.[6]
