He qualified [Great Britain](/source/Sailing_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Qualification) to compete in the Laser class at the [2020 Summer Olympics](/source/2020_Summer_Olympics) in [Tokyo](/source/Tokyo). He went on to represent Great Britain finishing 12th competing in the [Laser class](/source/Sailing_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Laser).  In 2020 he won the [Laser European Championships](/source/Laser_European_Championships)<ref name=sailingorg/>

In 2008 he Won the [Topper World Championships](/source/Topper_World_Championships) and in 2022<ref name=sailingorg/> he has also won the 2023 [5.5 Metre World Championship](/source/5.5_Metre_World_Championship)<ref>{{cite web |url=https://5.5class.org/category-blog/46-2022-news/354-jean-genie-wins-5-5-metre-world-title-on-final-day-in-hanko |title=Jean Genie wins 5.5 Metre world title on final day in Hankø |website=5.5class.org}}</ref> where he was initial scheduled to crew but he ended up helming.
