Anderson is a former member of the [Minnesota Senate](/source/Minnesota_Senate) who represented District 66, which includes the northern portion of the city of [Saint Paul](/source/Saint_Paul%2C_Minnesota), as well as the entire city of [Falcon Heights](/source/Falcon_Heights%2C_Minnesota) in [Ramsey County](/source/Ramsey_County%2C_Minnesota), which is in the [Twin Cities](/source/Twin_Cities) metropolitan area. A [Democrat](/source/Minnesota_Democratic-Farmer-Labor_Party), she was first elected in 1992, and was re-elected in 1996, 2000, 2002, 2006 and 2010.
