# Elizabeth Azcona Bocock

**Elizabeth "Lizi" Azcona Bocock**, (born October 5, 1969 in [La Ceiba](/source/La_Ceiba), [Honduras](/source/Honduras)),[citation needed] is the [Minister of Industry and Commerce](/source/Ministry_of_Industry_and_Commerce_(Honduras)) in the cabinet of [Honduras](/source/Honduras) president [Manuel Zelaya](/source/Manuel_Zelaya).[1]

## Background

The eldest daughter of former president [José Azcona](/source/Jos%C3%A9_Azcona_del_Hoyo) (QDDG) and Miriam Bocock de Azcona, Elizabeth Azcona received her primary and secondary education at the Elvel School of [Tegucigalpa](/source/Tegucigalpa) before going on to the [University of Notre Dame](/source/University_of_Notre_Dame) in the [United States](/source/United_States) to earn a [Master's degree in Business Administration](/source/Master_of_Business_Administration), with a minor in [Finance](/source/Finance).

From 1990 to 2001, Azcona worked in the Bank Atlantida in the area of generation of businesses and evaluation of credits. From 2001 to 2003, she was a [Risk Analyst](/source/Certified_Risk_Analyst) for [Citigroup](/source/Citigroup). She took a position as professor at the [Universidad José Cecilio del Valle](/source/Universidad_Jos%C3%A9_Cecilio_del_Valle), conducting classes on finances and formulation of projects, while at the same time working with the Inter-American Corporation of Investments (CII), an arm of the [Inter-American Development Bank](/source/Inter-American_Development_Bank) (I.A.D.B.). In January 2006, Azcona left her position in the CII to become Minister of Industry and Commerce.[citation needed]

Azcona is married to [industrialist](/source/Industrialist) Jorge Valladares, with whom she has two children.[citation needed]
