# Eleanor Espling

**Eleanor "Ellie" Espling** is an American politician from [Maine](/source/Maine). A [Republican](/source/Maine_Republican_Party), she served as a member of the [Maine House of Representatives](/source/Maine_House_of_Representatives) representing [New Gloucester](/source/New_Gloucester,_Maine), [Durham](/source/Durham,_Maine) and part of [Lisbon](/source/Lisbon,_Maine) in [Androscoggin](/source/Androscoggin_County,_Maine) and [Cumberland counties](/source/Cumberland_County,_Maine) from 2010 to 2018. She was a member of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee.[1][2] Espling resides in New Gloucester with her husband Steve and their four children. She attended [Cape Elizabeth High School](/source/Cape_Elizabeth_High_School) and the [University of Southern Maine](/source/University_of_Southern_Maine), from which she earned an [associate degree](/source/Associate_degree) in Business Administration.[3]

She sought election to the [Maine Senate](/source/Maine_Senate) in 2018 but was narrowly defeated by [Ned Claxton](/source/Ned_Claxton).[4]
