**Elaine Thomson** (born 1957 in [Inverness](/source/Inverness)) is a former [Scottish Labour Party](/source/Scottish_Labour) politician. She was the [Member of the Scottish Parliament](/source/Member_of_the_Scottish_Parliament) (MSP) for the [Aberdeen North](/source/Aberdeen_North_(Scottish_Parliament_constituency)) constituency from 1999 to 2003.[1]

In the [2003 election](/source/2003_Scottish_Parliament_election) she was defeated by [Brian Adam](/source/Brian_Adam) of the [Scottish National Party](/source/Scottish_National_Party) (SNP).[1] After her defeat she returned to work with her previous employer, an [Aberdeen](/source/Aberdeen)-based IT consultancy.

Thomson stood again in Aberdeen North at the [2007 Scottish Parliamentary election](/source/2007_Scottish_Parliament_election) but again lost to Brian Adam by an increased majority.[2]
