**El Vendrell** (əl βənˈdɾeʎ) is a town located in the province of [Tarragona](/source/Tarragona), [Catalonia](/source/Catalonia), in the [wine](/source/Wine)-growing region of [Penedès](/source/Pened%C3%A8s_(DO)). It is wedged between the [Mediterranean](/source/Mediterranean) and the [coastal range](/source/Catalan_Coastal_Range). El Vendrell is the capital of the [Baix Penedès](/source/Baix_Pened%C3%A8s) *[comarca](/source/Comarques_of_Catalonia)* and a tourist spot, with the beaches of [Comarruga](/source/Comarruga), [Sant Salvador](/source/Barri_Mar%C3%ADtim_de_Sant_Salvador) and El Vendrell.

It is the source of the Catalan [family name](/source/Family_name) "[Vendrell](/source/Vendrell)".
