**Einav** ([Hebrew](/source/Hebrew_language): עֵנָב) is an [Israeli settlement](/source/Israeli_settlement) organized as a [community settlement](/source/Community_settlement_(Israel)) in the northern [West Bank](/source/West_Bank), located adjacent to the [Palestinian](/source/State_of_Palestine) village of [Ramin](/source/Ramin%2C_Tulkarm), whose lands were confiscated in order to construct Einav.[2] It is located on [Highway 57](/source/Highway_57_(Israel%E2%80%93Palestine)) between [Avnei Hefetz](/source/Avnei_Hefetz) and [Shavei Shomron](/source/Shavei_Shomron), the [religious Zionist](/source/Religious_Zionism) and [Orthodox Jewish](/source/Orthodox_Judaism) community is within the municipal jurisdiction of the [Shomron Regional Council](/source/Shomron_Regional_Council).

The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank [illegal under international law](/source/International_law_and_Israeli_settlements), but the Israeli government disputes this.[3]

## History

Israel confiscated 470 [dunams](/source/Dunam) of land from the nearby [Palestinian](/source/State_of_Palestine) village of [Ramin](/source/Ramin%2C_Tulkarm) in order to construct Einav (and the accompanying bypass roads and military positions),[2] in addition to confiscating 20 dunams from [Kafr al-Labad](/source/Kafr_al-Labad).[4]

Established in 1981 with the assistance of the [Amana](/source/Amana_(Israel)) settlement organization, by 2024 it had a population of 1,228. The name of the village comes to remember the vineyards that used to be a feature of the surrounding areas.
