The **Ehroflug Coach II S** is a [Swiss](/source/Switzerland) [ultralight aircraft](/source/Ultralight_aircraft), designed by [Egon Scheibe](/source/Egon_Scheibe) and produced by [Ehroflug](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ehroflug&action=edit&redlink=1) of [Altnau](/source/Altnau). It was introduced in 1989. The aircraft is supplied as plans, as a kit for [amateur construction](/source/Homebuilt_aircraft) or as a complete ready-to-fly-aircraft.[1][2][3]

## Design and development

The aircraft was designed to comply with the [Fédération Aéronautique Internationale](/source/F%C3%A9d%C3%A9ration_A%C3%A9ronautique_Internationale) microlight rules. It features a [strut-braced](/source/Strut-braced) [parasol wing](/source/Parasol_wing) a two-seats-in-[side-by-side configuration](/source/Side-by-side_configuration) open cockpit, fixed [conventional landing gear](/source/Conventional_landing_gear) and a single engine in [tractor configuration](/source/Tractor_configuration).[1][2][3]

The aircraft [fuselage](/source/Fuselage) is made from welded steel tubing, with the wing built from [aluminium](/source/Aluminium) tubing with wooden [ribs](/source/Rib_(aircraft)). The airframe is covered in [doped](/source/Aircraft_dope) [aircraft fabric](/source/Aircraft_fabric). Its 11.34 m (37.2 ft) span wing has an area of 15 m2 (160 sq ft) and is supported by [cabane struts](/source/Cabane_struts), V-struts and [jury struts](/source/Jury_struts). The wings are quickly detachable for storage. Standard engines available are the 70 hp (52 kW) [Sauer 2.1](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sauer_2.1&action=edit&redlink=1) [four-stroke](/source/Four-stroke) [Volkswagen air-cooled engine](/source/Volkswagen_air-cooled_engine) and the 64 hp (48 kW) [Rotax 582](/source/Rotax_582) [two-stroke](/source/Two-stroke) powerplant.[1][2][3]

While still in production in 2015, the aircraft was only built on request.[2]
