The party's chairman is [Mamdouh Hassan](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mamdouh_Hassan&action=edit&redlink=1), its secretary general was his brother [Moatz Hassan](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Moatz_Hassan&action=edit&redlink=1).[1] Many former NDP MPs joined this party. In the [elections](/source/2011%E2%80%9312_Egyptian_parliamentary_election) for the [People's Assembly](/source/People's_Assembly_(Egypt)) from November 2011 through January 2012, the Freedom Party won 1.9% of the popular vote and five out of 498 elected seats.
