The **Egyptian Congress Party**[4] ([Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): حزب المؤتمر المصري), or **Egyptian Conference Party**, is a [secularist](/source/Secularism) political party in Egypt.[5]

## History

It was created by the merger of 25 liberal and leftist parties,[6] as well as remnants of the former [National Democratic Party](/source/National_Democratic_Party_(Egypt))-regime.[7]

According to the head of the [Egypt Arab Socialist Party](/source/Egypt_Arab_Socialist_Party), Adel el-Qulla, 10 parties would merge. Omar Semeida, the head of the [Egyptian Arab Union Party](/source/Egyptian_Arab_Union_Party), indicated that parties which were not interested in merging would join with the party in the [Egyptian Nation Alliance](/source/Egyptian_Nation_Alliance).[8]

Several of the parties that agreed to or considered joining were the [Ghad El-Thawra Party](/source/Ghad_El-Thawra_Party) and the [Democratic Front Party](/source/Democratic_Front_Party),[6] and several parties that are descended from the National Democratic Party, including the [Conservative Party](/source/Conservative_Party_(Egypt)), the [Egyptian Freedom Party](/source/Egyptian_Freedom_Party) and the [Egyptian Citizen Party](/source/Egyptian_Citizen_Party).[5] Also in the newly formed party are: "the Egyptian Arabic Socialist Party, the [El-Geel Democratic Party](/source/Democratic_Generation_Party), the [Social Peace Party](/source/Social_Peace_Party) , the Reform and Building Party, the Sufi Egyptian, the Tahrir Party, [Masr El-Fatah](/source/Young_Egypt_Party), the [Egyptian Arabic Union](/source/Arab_Egyptian_Union), the [Revolution's Guards](/source/Revolutionary_Guards_Party), the Thawra Party, [Arab for Justice and Equality](/source/Arab_Party_for_Justice_and_Equality) (sic), the [Social Justice Party](/source/Social_Justice_Party_(Egypt)), Al-Tali'a Al-Arabiya Party, Al-Wai'e Party, the Revolution Youth Union, Amr Moussa's presidential campaign team, El-Khodr Party and Al-Mustikloon Al-Goded."[6]

The party was one of the founding members of the [Egyptian Front](/source/Egyptian_Front).[9]

The Conference Party participated in a 12 January 2015 meeting of multiple parties chaired by Egyptian president [Abdel Fattah el-Sisi](/source/Abdel_Fattah_el-Sisi).[1]

It joined the [For the Love of Egypt](/source/For_the_Love_of_Egypt) alliance in September 2015.[10]

The party joined the [National Unified List for Egypt](/source/National_Unified_List_for_Egypt) ahead of the [2020 Egyptian parliamentary election](/source/2020_Egyptian_parliamentary_election).[11]

It joined the National Unified List for Egypt ahead of the [2025 Egyptian parliamentary election](/source/2025_Egyptian_parliamentary_election)[3] and won four seats.[12]
