'''Edward Pitt''' (1592–1643) was an English landowner and politician who sat in the [House of Commons](/source/House_of_Commons_of_England) in 1624.

Pitt was the son of [Sir William Pitt](/source/William_Pitt_(courtier)) and his wife  Edith Cadbury, daughter of Nicholas Cadbury of Arne, Dorset.<ref name=Burke>[https://books.google.com/books?id=seAKAAAAYAAJ&dq=%22William+Pitt%22+%22Comptroller%22&pg=PA353 John Burke ''A General and heraldic dictionary of the peerage and baronetage of ..., Volume 2'']</ref> He was a teller in the [Exchequer](/source/Exchequer). In 1624, he was elected [Member of Parliament](/source/Member_of_Parliament) for [Poole](/source/Poole_(UK_Parliament_constituency)) in the [Happy Parliament](/source/Happy_Parliament). In the Civil War he was seized by parliamentary forces at his home [Stratfield Saye House](/source/Stratfield_Saye_House) in 1643 and imprisoned in Windsor Castle. Pitt married  Rachel Morton, daughter of [Sir George Morton, 1st Baronet](/source/Sir_George_Morton%2C_1st_Baronet) of Milborne St. Andrew, Dorset.
