**Edward Carrere** (13 October 1906 – 19 December 1984) born in [Mexico](/source/Mexico), first hit [Hollywood](/source/Cinema_of_the_United_States) in 1947, making his debut as an [art director](/source/Art_director) on *[My Wild Irish Rose](/source/My_Wild_Irish_Rose)*. He garnered his first [Academy Award](/source/Academy_Awards) [nomination](/source/Nomination) two years later for the [Errol Flynn](/source/Errol_Flynn) epic *[Adventures of Don Juan](/source/Adventures_of_Don_Juan)*.

Throughout the late 1940s and the 1950s he worked on such films as *[White Heat](/source/White_Heat)* (1949), *[The Fountainhead](/source/The_Fountainhead_(film))* (1949), *[The Flame and the Arrow](/source/The_Flame_and_the_Arrow)* (1950), *[Dial M for Murder](/source/Dial_M_for_Murder)* (1954), *[Sweet Smell of Success](/source/Sweet_Smell_of_Success)* (1957), *[Separate Tables](/source/Separate_Tables_(film))* (1958) and *[Elmer Gantry](/source/Elmer_Gantry_(film))* (1960).

His second [Oscar](/source/Academy_Awards) nomination was in 1960 was for the [Roosevelt](/source/Franklin_D._Roosevelt) [biopic](/source/Biopic) *[Sunrise at Campobello](/source/Sunrise_at_Campobello)*. He won the Academy Award seven years later for his work on *[Camelot](/source/Camelot_(film))*.[1]
