Son of Ares in Greek mythology

In [Greek mythology](/source/Greek_mythology), **Edonus** ([Ancient Greek](/source/Ancient_Greek_language): Ἠδωνός) was the ancestor of the [Edonians](/source/Edoni) in [Thrace](/source/Thrace) and Thracian [Macedonia](/source/Macedonia_(ancient_kingdom)). He was the son of [Ares](/source/Ares) (god of war) and [Calliope](/source/Calliope) (muse of epic poetry). The names *Edonus, Edonian, Edonic* is therefore used also in the sense of "[Thracian](/source/Thracian)", and as Thrace was one of the principal seats of the worship of [Dionysus](/source/Dionysus), it further signifies "Dionysiac" or "[Bacchantic](/source/Bacchantic)".[1]
