**Edmund Thomas Sweetman** (1912 – 16 December 1968) was an [Irish](/source/Irish_people) [Fine Gael](/source/Fine_Gael) politician, who was a member of [Seanad Éireann](/source/Seanad_%C3%89ireann) from 1948 to 1951.[1] A solicitor, he was an unsuccessful Fine Gael candidate for the [Wicklow](/source/Wicklow_(D%C3%A1il_constituency)) constituency at the [1944](/source/1944_Irish_general_election) and [1948](/source/1944_Irish_general_election) general elections.[2] He was [nominated by the Taoiseach](/source/Nominated_members_of_Seanad_%C3%89ireann) to the Seanad in 1948. He did not contest the 1951 Seanad election.[1]

His father [Roger Sweetman](/source/Roger_Sweetman) was a [Sinn Féin](/source/Sinn_F%C3%A9in) [Teachta Dála](/source/Teachta_D%C3%A1la) (TD) for [Wexford North](/source/North_Wexford) from 1918 to 1921.[3]
