**Edmund Sloane "Tad" Coffin** (born May 9, 1955, in [Toledo, Ohio](/source/Toledo%2C_Ohio)) is an American [saddlemaker](/source/English_Saddle) and [equestrian](/source/Equestrianism). Coffin won two [gold medals](/source/Gold_medal) in the [1976 Summer Olympics](/source/1976_Summer_Olympics) in [Montreal](/source/Montreal) riding Bally Cor. He grew up on [Long Island](/source/Long_Island), then moved with his family to [Strafford, Vermont](/source/Strafford%2C_Vermont), but now lives in [Charlottesville, Virginia](/source/Charlottesville%2C_Virginia). He is the nephew of clergyman and peace activist [William Sloane Coffin](/source/William_Sloane_Coffin).[1]
