'''Edward Creech Sherling''' (July 18, 1897 – November 16, 1965) was a [Major League Baseball](/source/Major_League_Baseball) [pinch hitter](/source/pinch_hitter)  and [pinch runner](/source/pinch_runner) who played in {{Baseball year|1924}} with the [Philadelphia Athletics](/source/Philadelphia_Athletics). He batted left and threw right-handed. He attended college at [Auburn University](/source/Auburn_University) playing for the baseball and the [football](/source/American_football) teams.

In December 1921 a fire broke out at the Stabler Hospital in [Greenville, Alabama](/source/Greenville%2C_Alabama).  Sherling happened to be passing by, and saved several people by carrying them to safety. Sherling was a [fullback](/source/Fullback_(American_football)) on [Mike Donahue](/source/Mike_Donahue)'s [Auburn Tigers football](/source/Auburn_Tigers_football) team.
