==Political career==
Oman was elected as a Member of the [Legislative Assembly of Alberta](/source/Legislative_Assembly_of_Alberta) representing the [Calgary North Hill](/source/Calgary_North_Hill) electoral district in the [1979 Alberta general election](/source/1979_Alberta_general_election). He won easily over second place challenger Dennis Shupe from the [Social Credit](/source/Alberta_Social_Credit_Party) party and three other candidates to hold the district for the [Progressive Conservatives](/source/Progressive_Conservative_Association_of_Alberta). He was re-elected to a second term in office in the [1982 Alberta general election](/source/1982_Alberta_general_election) winning a landslide. He defeated challenger Agnes Middleton from the [NDP](/source/Alberta_New_Democratic_Party) and two other candidates.
