'''Edwin Walter Chadwick''' (May 8, 1933 – April 23, 2024) was a Canadian ice hockey [goaltender](/source/goaltender) who played in the [National Hockey League](/source/National_Hockey_League) (NHL) for the [Toronto Maple Leafs](/source/Toronto_Maple_Leafs) and the [Boston Bruins](/source/Boston_Bruins) between 1955 and 1962. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1952 to 1968, was spent in various minor leagues.

==Playing career==
Chadwick started his NHL career in the [1955–56 season](/source/1955%E2%80%9356_NHL_season) by playing five games for the Toronto Maple Leafs as a substitute for injured future [Hall of Famer](/source/Hockey_Hall_of_Fame) [Harry Lumley](/source/Harry_Lumley_(ice_hockey)). Over the next two seasons, he played 140 consecutive regular season games for the Leafs, which is still a team record. His playing time shrank in the next two seasons and he was shipped down to the [Rochester Americans](/source/Rochester_Americans) of the [American Hockey League](/source/American_Hockey_League). He played only four more NHL games, as a member of the [Boston Bruins](/source/Boston_Bruins) in [1961–62](/source/1961%E2%80%9362_NHL_season). He spent the remainder of his playing days in the AHL, first for the [Hershey Bears](/source/Hershey_Bears), and then the [Buffalo Bisons](/source/Buffalo_Bisons) before retiring in 1968.

==Later life and death==
Later he became a scout for the [Edmonton Oilers](/source/Edmonton_Oilers), with whom he won five [Stanley Cup](/source/Stanley_Cup) rings and his name appeared on the Stanley Cup in [1985](/source/1984%E2%80%9385_NHL_season), [1987](/source/1986%E2%80%9387_NHL_season), and [1990](/source/1989%E2%80%9390_NHL_season).

Chadwick died in [Fort Erie, Ontario](/source/Fort_Erie%2C_Ontario) on April 23, 2024, at the age of 90.<ref>{{cite web|title=Edwin Walter Chadwick|url=https://bennerfuneralservices.ca/tribute/details/11655/Edwin-Chadwick/obituary.html|publisher=Benner Funeral Services Inc.|access-date=April 24, 2024}}</ref><ref>{{cite web |last=Stubbs |first=Dave |url=https://www.nhl.com/news/ed-chadwick-dead-at-90 |title=Chadwick dies at 90, goalie started 140 consecutive games for Maple Leafs |website=nhl.com |date=April 23, 2024 |access-date=April 24, 2024}}</ref>
