==Geography==
The settlement is located in the northeastern part of [Somogy County](/source/Somogy_County), 8 km from [R67](/source/R67_(fast_road)), 31 km north of Kaposvár, 39 kilometers south of Balatonlelle. By public transport on the [R67](/source/R67_(fast_road)) it can be approached from the direction of [Felsőmocsolád](/source/Fels%C5%91mocsol%C3%A1d). Ecseny is embraced in a strongly divided north–south valley. ==History==
The name of the village was first mentioned in 1193 in a document of [Béla III](/source/B%C3%A9la_III). During [Ottoman occupation](/source/Ottoman-Hungarian_wars) Ecseny got depopulated. Under the reign of [Maria Theresa](/source/Maria_Theresa) Luthern [Swabians](/source/Swabians) settled there. Around 1780 Lutheran Swabian settlers from [Tolna County](/source/Tolna_County_(former)) and [Baranya County](/source/Baranya_County_(former)) arrived. Until the middle of the 18th century the village belonged to the [Perneszy family](/source/Perneszy_family). In 1848 there were 109 households. In 1930 it had 1022 German and 38 Hungarian residents. After the [Second World War](/source/Second_World_War) about 30% of Germans were deported during the [Expulsion](/source/Germans_of_Hungary). In their houses Hungarians from [Upper Hungary](/source/Upper_Hungary) moved in within the [Czechoslovak–Hungarian population exchange](/source/Czechoslovak%E2%80%93Hungarian_population_exchange). ==Main sights==
* [Lutheran](/source/Evangelical-Lutheran_Church_in_Hungary) Church built in 1842–1843. Due to the fireworks, it had to be rebuilt several times, lastly rebuilt in 1994.
* [Lutheran](/source/Evangelical-Lutheran_Church_in_Hungary) Cultural House was built in 1937, on the floor with a teacher's apartment. Today, this building is the village hall.
