**Region V** (Spanish: Región V. Ecatepec) is an [intrastate region](/source/Intrastate_region) within the [State of Mexico](/source/State_of_Mexico). It lies to the north of [Mexico City](/source/Mexico_City) in the [Valley of Mexico](/source/Valley_of_Mexico), borders the state of [Hidalgo](/source/Hidalgo_(state)), and the whole region is one of 10 regions in the state which comprise the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico, but the least populated least dense and furthest municipality is not included in the definition of Mexico City Metropolitan Area (see [Greater Mexico City](/source/Greater_Mexico_City)). The region comprises five cities, [Ecatepec de Morelos](/source/Ecatepec_de_Morelos), [Otumba](/source/Otumba%2C_State_of_Mexico), [Tecámac](/source/Tec%C3%A1mac), [Temascalapa](/source/Temascalapa), and [Acolman](/source/Acolman).[1]
