EM Solutions initially began developing solid-state power amplifiers, filters, and [oscillators](/source/Oscillation), before producing high-speed receivers and [transmitter](/source/transmitter)s for [radio](/source/radio)s. In 2008, EM Solutions launched its initial foray into [SATCOM On-The-Move](/source/Satcom_On_The_Move) (SOTM) terminals after being granted sponsorship from the [Australian Defence Force](/source/Australian_Defence_Force) to develop a land-mobile [Ka-band](/source/Ka_band) terminal.<ref name=":0" />

In 2016, subsidiary EMClarity produced the world’s lowest latency 5 Gbit/s, [E-band](/source/E_band_(waveguide)) (70 to 80Ghz) microwave radio, the E10G.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://cdn.newsapi.com.au/link/bce09f774cc42b88fa373bbd89e99a5a?domain=theaustralian.com.au|title=Traders bank on EMClarity|date=2016-02-22|access-date=2017-12-19}}</ref> Now used to connect servers from the [New York Stock Exchange](/source/New_York_Stock_Exchange) (NYSE) to those of [Nasdaq Stock Market](/source/NASDAQ), this product was created in response to industry requests for lower latency communications networks to equal the speed of computer processing platforms utilized to facilitate financial trades.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.criticalcomms.com.au/content/utilities/article/faster-than-fibre-728797989#axzz51fiUJHjZ|title=Faster than fibre|website=www.criticalcomms.com.au|language=en|access-date=2017-12-19}}</ref><ref>{{Cite news|title=New York traders bank on EMClarity's speed|last=Adhikari|first=Supratim|date=23 February 2016|work=[The Australian](/source/The_Australian)|page=29}}</ref>

EM Solutions was commissioned by a [United States](/source/United_States) government agency to supply E-band [radio](/source/radio)s for ship-to-shore communication. Employing the steerable [gimbal](/source/gimbal) systems used in the company’s SATCOM On-The-Move terminals, the [radio](/source/radio)s achieve the longest range and highest data rate of any commercial wireless system at 10 Gbit/s and 20 km, respectively.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.satnews.com/story.php?number=577128642|title=Satnews Publishers: Daily Satellite News|website=www.satnews.com|language=en|access-date=2017-12-19}}</ref>

In 2015, EM Solutions partnered with leading satellite telecommunications company, [Inmarsat](/source/Inmarsat), to produce the first dual X- and Ka-bands terminal with universal (land or sea) capability. These terminals have been installed in the [Australian Border Force](/source/Australian_Border_Force)'s and the [Royal Australian Navy](/source/Royal_Australian_Navy)’s [Cape Class](/source/Cape-class_patrol_boat) patrol boats,<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.criticalcomms.com.au/content/utilities/article/inmarsat-provides-improved-broadband-to-border-protection-241711013#axzz51fiUJHjZ|title=Inmarsat provides improved broadband to border protection|website=www.criticalcomms.com.au|language=en|access-date=2017-12-19}}</ref> providing [broadband](/source/broadband) access to crews of these vessels for the first time.
