{{Short description|American weather dissemination service}}
The '''Emergency Managers Weather Information Network''' ('''EMWIN''') is a system for distributing a live stream of [weather](/source/weather) information in the United States. The backbone of the system is operated via [satellite](/source/satellite) by the U.S. [National Weather Service](/source/National_Weather_Service) (NWS), but data are transmitted over [radio](/source/radio) [repeater](/source/repeater)s by the NWS, citizens, and other organizations in many regions, and information can also be downloaded via the [Internet](/source/Internet). Local VHF/UHF radio rebroadcasts and older-generation EMWIN satellite systems operate at the speeds of 1200 and 9600 [baud](/source/baud). EMWIN data consists of [textual](/source/text-based) observational and forecast information, including a limited number of [cloud](/source/cloud) and [radar](/source/radar) images. The new EMWIN, labeled EMWIN-N, began being upgraded in 2009. The upgrade continues through 2011 to ready older GOES satellites to provide a higher speed of 19.2 kbit/s.<ref>{{cite web|title=EMWIN-N Transition|url=http://www.weather.gov/emwin/transition.htm}}</ref> The data broadcasts are monetarily free with both local rebroadcasts and satellite feeds. EMWIN via Twitter may be done by anyone to spread information on all types of emergencies to virtually unlimited numbers of people in real time also.

EMWIN weather data is primarily transmitted over [GOES](/source/GOES) satellites that observe the United States. The new satellites are the GOES-R series, and are designated [GOES 16](/source/GOES_16) and [GOES 17](/source/GOES_17).

On February 13, 2017 it suffered a service disruption.{{cn|date=July 2020}}
