**Duttagupta** , also spelled as **Dattagupta** (Bengali: দত্তগুপ্ত) is a native [Bengali](/source/Bengalis) surname, commonly found among the Bengalis of [West Bengal](/source/West_Bengal), [Assam](/source/Assam), [Tripura](/source/Tripura) and [Bangladesh](/source/Bangladesh).[1][2] They belong to the [Baidya](/source/Baidya) caste of [Bengal](/source/Bengal). The surname is a compound of [Dutta](/source/Dutta) and [Gupta](/source/Gupta).[3][4]
