**Dubai Holding** ([Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): دبي القابضة) is Dubai ruler [Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum](/source/Mohammed_bin_Rashid_Al_Maktoum)'s global [investment](/source/Investment_company) [holding company](/source/Holding_company) and personal investment [portfolio](/source/Portfolio_(finance)).[2]

[Mohamed al-Gergawi](/source/Mohammad_Al_Gergawi) built the company's portfolio.[2] [Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum](/source/Ahmed_bin_Saeed_Al_Maktoum) was appointed [chairman](/source/Chairman) by the Dubai ruler.[3] Dubai Holding has over [DH](/source/United_Arab_Emirates_dirham) 130 billion in [assets](/source/Asset) in 13 countries and around 20,000 employees worldwide.[4][5]

In 2021, leaks from the [Pandora Papers](/source/Pandora_Papers) about a secretive offshore system used to hide income from tax authorities and creditors revealed that Dubai Holding used three shell companies.[6]

Dubai Holding was established in 2004.[7]

- 2005: [du](/source/Du_(company)), a telecom provider company, was launched.[10]

- 2005: [Dubai International Academic City](/source/Dubai_International_Academic_City) opened.[11]

- 2006: Emirates International Communications (EIT) launched, and invested in communication organizations across the [Middle East](/source/Middle_East), [Europe](/source/Europe), [Africa](/source/Africa) and [South Asia](/source/South_Asia), including [Interoute Communications Ltd.](/source/Interoute)[12]

- 2007: [SmartCity](/source/SmartCity%2C_Kochi) launches in [Kochi](/source/Kochi) and [Malta](/source/Malta).[13]
