Freeman made his debut for Dorset in the 1934 [Minor Counties Championship](/source/Minor_Counties_Championship) against [Cornwall](/source/Cornwall_County_Cricket_Club). After playing for Kent Second XI in 1936, Freeman made eight appearances for the county Second XI in the 1937 Minor Counties Championship and played in one [first-class cricket](/source/first-class_cricket) match against [Somerset](/source/Somerset_County_Cricket_Club) in the [1937 County Championship](/source/1937_County_Championship).<ref name=ca /> He made a total of ten runs in the match in a "crushing defeat" for the county.<ref name=pca /> He played for Somerset Second XI in 1939 before returning to play for Dorset after the [Second World War](/source/Second_World_War).<ref name=ca /><ref name=carlaw>Carlaw, pp. 83–84.
